Grasshopper, grasshopper
How come you are here?
The leaves are gone,
The grass is brown.
Grasshopper, grasshopper
How come you are here?
The nights are cold,
Soon snow will fall.
Grasshopper, grasshopper
How come you are here?
There’s nothing to eat,
Your friends are gone.
Grasshopper, grasshopper
How come you are here?
Find a warm place,
See you in Spring.
Prompted by a grasshopper that visited my house
on October 18, 2007 after a rather cold spell.
